A lot of folks can't understand how we

came to have an oil shortage

here in our country.

~~~
Well, there's a very simple answer.
~~~

Nobody bothered to check the oil.

~~~
We just didn't know we were getting low.
~~~

The reason for that is purely geographical.

~~~
Our OIL is located in:
~~~

ALASKA

~~~
California
~~~

Coastal Florida

~~~
Coastal Louisiana
~~~

North Dakota

~~~
Wyoming
~~~

Colorado

~~~
Kansas
~~~

Oklahoma

~~~
Pennsylvania
And
Texas
~~~

Our dipsticks are located in DC

Any Questions? NO?

Didn't think So.

My reading for the day...

It struck me that in this chapter God, through the prophet Nathan, promised that the throne of David would last forever.

God's Word will not fail...

Even as we speak, the Son of David...Jesus...is sitting on the throne above, at the right hand of the Father...

"Before the Throne of God Above" (my version by Sojourn)

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

Reading Francis Chan's "Forgotten God" - in the first chapter he writes that "another" denotes not a "different" counselor, but rather another of the same kind (p.34).

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. (John 14:16-17)

ἄλλος (allos) is simply "another;other) and is used 160 times.  I'm not sure that Chan is quite right...but when Jesus was born, His parents returned to their home country in an "allos" route.  Another (different) route.

From John 16:

But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

I'm not sure that one can always take something said specifically to the apostles, and apply it universally, but the point that Chan makes remains:

Jesus had to leave so that the Spirit could come.

Chan says that having the Spirit with us - within us - is better than having Jesus Christ standing next to us.

The Spirit will remind us of what Jesus told His followers.

To them, the Spirit reminded them of the time they spent with Christ; as they penned the New Testament, they wrote as ones who had the Spirit within them, reminding them of what Jesus said and did.

To us...those Scriptures come to mind as we have need of them.

this day...

...as the storms of life loom on the horizon - maybe the storm will miss me this time, maybe it will sweep over me head on.  Or maybe the last few months have simply been the peaceful eye of the storm.

Either way, Jesus said,

"You of little faith, why are you so afraid?"

As I prepare for possible surgery, organizing diet becomes more vital.  I'm also collecting low sodium recipes.  Going more low carb/high protein/moderate fat.

So...MasterCook crashed.  I downloaded Bigoven and I don't like it at all.  It is rated higher than MasterCook, but I don't like the way recipes are organized and I really don't like the very trim nutritional breakdown.

Then I realized that MasterCook 9.0 is not compatible with Windows 7...and I missed MasterCook 10...so I ordered MasterCook 11, which is compatible with Windows 7.  Hopefully that will solve my issues.

In the meantime, the recipes I'm running across are just getting bookmarked and my first week off of school will be spend on "geek stuff"

I think my  computer battery died.  At least that's what the Lenovo forums are saying.  The batter light is orange and blinking and the systems tray says "plugged in, not charging."

I took the battery out and replaced it (didn't work) and I took the battery out and unplugged the computer and hit the start button 11 times (don't ask me why, but there are users who say that it works.

Later I'll have Tom trade batteries with me to see if his works.

~~~
And my computer is overheating.
So I'm logging off and turning off for a little while
Exercise good...my pedometer shows not very much because the battery went dead.  🙁
Diet bad...stress eating and all that.
~~~

Blood tests came back...good cholesterol is good...bad cholesterol is high...triglycerides are about 30 points lower than 6 months ago, so that's good.

Sugar is good...blood pressure is excellent.

Next up...the "lady stuff":

  • the ladies get squished on Monday
  • my baseline bone density test on Tuesday (or Monday if they can fit me in)
  • annual physical on Tuesday
  • age-appropriate tests to be scheduled on Tuesday.

~~~
Why?
I'm considering weight loss surgery before my health insurance gets messed up.
