On "The Private War in The Mind" from Reformation Theology

Yet there is a reality to spiritual warfare and it is something God certainly wants us to know about, or else He would not have revealed it to us in His Word. If we just stay with the Scripture, we will be on safe and sure ground. God wants us to understand the warfare, know our enemy and live a life free from his clutches.

Hillbuzz on waking up Americans:

this paragraph is talking about why the Republicans don't seem to be all that interested in winning:

Maybe these men truly don’t know how to do that…but we think it’s more like the Washington Generals knowing they have a pretty good racket losing basketball games to the Globetrotters, so why start working harder and winning when the script their all following says they need to lose in the end (if they want to keep their cushy existence as the lovable losers).

A good article on gay marriage by "The Gay Patriot"

If you feel a victim because the state doesn’t call your union what you want to call it, well, then you have really politicized your psyche.

He says that gay marriage (the union of 2 people) already exists, what they lack is state recognition.  If they went for the recognition of the union (without calling it "marriage"), they would have the rights of the state recognition of the union.

A commenter said,

Even for straights, a State marriage license is a thing created by State legislation (which I call a privilege); not a thing which morally precedes the State and exists apart from it (which I call a fundamental right).

Which is why, in certain circumstances, I would decline piece of paper that tells me that the state has given me permission to marry.

That's God's job, not the state's.

An Amazon widget...or two.

One of them, if you click on a link to a product here, and buy it there, I get a credit for it.

For instance, if I review a book like "A Biblical Case For an Old Earth" (it's a good book, I'll get around to it...) and you buy it through the link...that's a good thing...for me.  You can see the little icon next to the book title - it shows you the book cover and a little blurb.

The other is WAY at the bottom of the sidebar and is my "wish list"...if you buy ME something...I may not get credit...but I get the "something"  (for my family's info)

I finally got around to ordering a new battery for my computer.  At least I'll be able to sit on my porch and have a beverage while I categorize old blog posts  😉  I stopped by the battery store and they wanted $119...uh...no.  They want $40 on Amazon (including shipping).

no, it's not a bleak as it sounds.

It's just that (at this moment) I am very aware that I cannot see the road that lays ahead of me.  See the new photo at the top of this blog...I took it last August in the Upper Peninsula.  Very foggy, very obscure...I could not see the road ahead.

There are a couple of wildly divergent paths that life could take...and I have zero clue which fork my life might take.

A couple of months ago, I could imagine the future.  Now...I just can't.

I think that's a good thing...it leaves my future (and my trust) squarely in the hands of God.

Look again at the photo.  Not very long after I took that, the sun came out.  It was sunny...I found this

At the end of the day, the fog clears.  Life will be good.  God is good...and in control

Exercise good...my pedometer shows not very much because the battery went dead.  🙁

Diet bad...stress eating and all that.

Blood tests came back...good cholesterol is good...bad cholesterol is high...triglycerides are about 30 points lower than 6 months ago, so that's good.

Sugar is good...blood pressure is excellent.

Next up...the "lady stuff":

  • the ladies get squished on Monday
  • my baseline bone density test on Tuesday (or Monday if they can fit me in)
  • annual physical on Tuesday
  • age-appropriate tests to be scheduled on Tuesday.

Why?

I'm considering weight loss surgery before my health insurance gets messed up.
