He's officially in a dorm (actually, in an upper-classman apartment with a kitchenette and only one other person).
And he's officially on a meal plan (he has $700 for the semester to eat on)
He wants us to drive up together (or in a mini-convoy) on Tuesday. That's okay...I can do that. That's only a week from today.
Like this summer vacation was a "vacation" - more like survival camp.
At any rate, some time next week (either Tuesday or Thursday) I begin the empty nest process. Driving a long way to take my oldest to his new university - Orientation is Wednesday and Thursday...then we have 3 days to camp.
I'm going to pre-post a few things, but it will be slow.
And the long drive (we drive in separate cars) with me and my own thoughts and the new Sovereign Grace music (I bought the Psalms CD also - which is available from iTunes)
9 - What are you looking for in a life time mate?
Faithfulness. Love. A ministry partner. A leader of the home.
10 - define "love" within a marriage
Love within a marriage is a little different than love between fellow human beings.
When you love your spouse, you love your own flesh. You love the one whose body belongs to you.
For me (a woman), it means that I'll strive to submit to my husband as the church submits to Christ.
We share the same life, the same goals, the same will.
For him (whoever he may be), it means that he will strive to love me as Christ loves the church, giving himself up for her, washing her in the Word.
A few evenings ago at my sister's house (I was sleeping in the finished basement) I was startled by a very large bat. It flew into the enclosed laundry area so I shut the door. And we had not seen it since.
I talked to my sister about it and she likes the bat.
They've had a few in the basement and when her husband kills one of them, she starts seeing bugs in the basement. When there's a bat, it eats the bugs.
She says, "Better the bat I can't see than the bugs I can see".
But then...I like bats. Bats are the good guys. One bat in one night will eat a whole grocery bag full of mosquitoes.
I left my mountain bike with my dad (along with Tom's bike helmet) - and the stipulation that he doesn't ride without the helmet.
the last time he rode a bike, this happened:
Admittedly...the problem was Dad doing something that shouldn't be done on a bike (the seat was too hard so he put a pillow on it...when the pillow slipped, so did he).
the bike I left has really fat stable tires, is an adult bike (unlike the one he fell off) and has a padded seat.

today would have been my wedding anniversary.
My husband's sisters, Deb and Judy are still close to me and have been very good to us.
Today, Judy gave Tom as college send off (iPod cover and many $ of iTunes gift cards, all the linen needed to set up a dorm room and a check for $500...)
Deb...

THANK YOU ALL! (Tom is being rewarded for his good choices...)
