A Woman’s Place…

Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." Differing views are welcome and desired.

A woman's place...might not be a place.

A woman's place is not a location, it's a state of mind. A state of being.

I don't care what the world has made "feminism" into. I don't care what the world thinks a woman should be. I don't even care what the "church" or other Christians think women should or should not be able to do. I've seen a few posts out there (Christian and otherwise) that have addressed this issue - and I felt like I wanted to say something.

Unless they/you/I can support that position from the Word - don't state it with authority.

I have a picture in my brain of an ideal woman.

Soft, but strong.
Obedient to God and to her husband.
Joyfully celebrating what God created woman to be.

Someday I would like to be a wife. Enjoying womanhood, but also enjoying a man who is willing to celebrate what God has created man to be.

I have learned that trying to fill the steps of what God created man for - well, it just doesn't fit the woman who wants to fill the shoes of what God created woman to be.

God created woman as a helper - why not revel in being that, in the best way you know how?

God created man as a leader - he should shoulder that God-ordained role with joy.

The Bible tells wives to submit to their husbands in everything. A Christian man will respond with the love that is commanded.

Marriage should not be a power-struggle, it is wives that make it so. And yet, (unless God's law is put first) it seems as though this power struggle is part of the fall.

Genesis 3:16 says, "Your desire (t@shuwqah) will be for your husband, and he will rule (mashal) over you."

The Hebrew word for "desire" is also used in Genesis 4:7, where God describes sin to Cain, "But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires (t@shuwqah) to have you, but you must master (mashal) it."

Woman desires man - he will rule over her
Sin desires Cain - he must rule over it.

The Hebrew word "t@shuwqah" transliterated) is used in both verses. This word is not only used for "of man for woman/of woman for man", it is also used to describe a beast, waiting to devour.

The Hebrew word, "mashal" (also transliterated) is also used in both verses. It means just what it says.

The passages do not speak to this issues, but given the world that we live in today, I can tell you that I do not want to be a woman who is waiting to devour a role that God intended man to fill.

I want to be in joyful celebration of the role that God created for me - a woman.

  1. thanks for stopping by...This is something that I'm feel strongly about.

(and I need to find the code for CWO - I somehow erased most of my sidebar)

  2. Well put! I'm also here through CWO.

It has been said that a woman is "dangerous in her beauty and in her life giving power". She can either deliver life or she can destroy it.

  3. p.s.

"helper" is also known as "help meet" which is also a "life saver".

I used the wrong username above, so I'll sign out properly this time.
