As I prepare for possible surgery, organizing diet becomes more vital.  I'm also collecting low sodium recipes.  Going more low carb/high protein/moderate fat.

So...MasterCook crashed.  I downloaded Bigoven and I don't like it at all.  It is rated higher than MasterCook, but I don't like the way recipes are organized and I really don't like the very trim nutritional breakdown.

Then I realized that MasterCook 9.0 is not compatible with Windows 7...and I missed MasterCook 10...so I ordered MasterCook 11, which is compatible with Windows 7.  Hopefully that will solve my issues.

In the meantime, the recipes I'm running across are just getting bookmarked and my first week off of school will be spend on "geek stuff"

I think my  computer battery died.  At least that's what the Lenovo forums are saying.  The batter light is orange and blinking and the systems tray says "plugged in, not charging."

I took the battery out and replaced it (didn't work) and I took the battery out and unplugged the computer and hit the start button 11 times (don't ask me why, but there are users who say that it works.

Later I'll have Tom trade batteries with me to see if his works.

~~~
And my computer is overheating.
So I'm logging off and turning off for a little while
Exercise good...my pedometer shows not very much because the battery went dead.  🙁
Diet bad...stress eating and all that.
Blood tests came back...good cholesterol is good...bad cholesterol is high...triglycerides are about 30 points lower than 6 months ago, so that's good.
Sugar is good...blood pressure is excellent.
Next up...the "lady stuff":
  • the ladies get squished on Monday
  • my baseline bone density test on Tuesday (or Monday if they can fit me in)
  • annual physical on Tuesday
  • age-appropriate tests to be scheduled on Tuesday.
Why?
I'm considering weight loss surgery before my health insurance gets messed up.
Isaiah 40
Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and cry to her that her warfare is ended,
that her iniquity is pardoned,
that she has received from the LORD’s hand
double for all her sins.
A voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
and the rough places a plain.
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together,
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken."
A voice says, "Cry!"
And I said, "What shall I cry?"
All flesh is grass,
and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.
The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the LORD blows on it;
surely the people are grass.
The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever.
A big stress eating day...not good.
But I got my bike tire taken care of...maybe.   My back tire has a different valve stem and it doesn't seem to be quite long enough.  There's a screw thingie on it that I didn't know could come off and when it does, the tire will pump up all the way.
I also have really little tires that pump up to 145 psi.  the guy at the bike store says 125 should do it, but if I can get them to 145...nice.  So we'll try for 125 and see if that works.
The dogwood are blooming and the pollen is so bad it looks like it's snowing...my eyes itch.
~~~

So...even with itchy eyes and a (hopefully) short meeting after school tomorrow, I'm taking my stuff to ride after school.

and politics...

this is from "Being Conservative" on facebook:

So we're sending 1200 UNARMED National Guardsmen to help secure our southern border. Only Obama could look at our border security problem and determine the solution is more paper pushers.

I watched the final episode of "Lost" last night.  I've watched every episode, beginning to end.  This one was hard - not only because a series that I've enjoyed ALL of it is over...but also the hodgepodge of emotions that I felt as I watched this final segment.

The struggle of "good" against "evil" (although both of the characters representing these things were a mixture of good and evil) was only a minor part (at least for me.)

In the struggle against "evil", the characters marched forward, feeling obligation, but also seemed to have a feeling of inevitability - this was their calling and they were going to fill it.

Throughout this episode (the hardest part for me) was the memories and reunions.  The "back and forth" from the island to "real life" - which was real?

Where somebody died on the island...they were reunited with their lover.

Where somebody left, they were returned to the arms of the one they loved.

Somebody forgotten...remembered.

In the end...all were brought back to where they were supposed to be.  It was all an illusion.  "Everybody dies."

There's errands I need to run - bike store, groceries, post office, Meijer Garden (sans students)

I want to spend time on my blog - get back into it, organize themes and delete a few that I don't like.  Expect change.

I guess that's the way life is...expect change.  Then change won't blind side you...or maybe it will anyway.
