Health

(I run from Saturday to Friday, but I think I'll change from Frida to Thursday, so that "Fit Friday" will cover all seven days.)

Weight...stayed even.

Weight Watchers:  was within points (but this is my last weight watchers week, since I'm going more low-carb -again- and I can't eat the higher fat and stay within weight watchers points)

Exercise:
General Road Cycling,
06/14/2009 (Sunday), time, 01:56:53, total distance:24.25 mi., calories burned, 1,063

6/16/09 (Tuesday); time 1:58:48; distance, 25,09, calories burned 1080

6/18/09 (Thursday); time 1:25:03; distance, 17.46, calories burned, 773  (I had a flat tire and Tom came to pick me up in Conklin)

Total exercise: 5 hours, 20 minutes and 44 seconds.  Total miles on bike: 66.77.  I have a 40 mile ride tomorrow, which will go on next week.

My triglycerides are up and my gynecologist suggested I try to get some exercise in.

Moving my bike cleats back just 1/2" requires a whole different movement to click out (un-attach my shoes from my pedals when I stop so that I don't tip over). Photos of the subsequent bruise can be available upon request.)

Riding with a migraine = bad idea.

If you have a bruise from tipping over with your feet attached to you pedals
AND
you have a migraine
AND
you're a bit sick to your stomach from the headache...

AND
You see lightning ahead

YES...it is okay if you turn around and go back after just 4 miles.

I am sometimes a bit shaky when I talk to people with cancer.  I can relate to the trials their families are dealing with, but when they ask how my experience with cancer turned out...

I'm a widow, it didn't end well.

I know a lot about working doctors' offices, I know about the medi-port, I know about the pumps that administer chemo as if it were an insulin pump.  I know about the huge radiation machines.  I know about talking to your kids.

I can't assure that all will be well on this earth - I can't.  For Christians, I can say that what we deal with on this earth is as bad as it's going to get.  After this life...the bad is all over.

I can say that - no matter what the outcome - my God is in control.  My God sees into eternity and my God sees what we cannot and my God does what is right...every...single...time.

"Trust God" seem as if it is only something that you should say.  But it is the reality for those who believe.  Sometimes it isn't easy to trust...sometimes you just keep on keeping on.

Oh...my...goodness...

Time with my sisters-in-law is not good for the diet.  And winter is not good for the exercise plan.

So...baby steps.

This week I will:

follow Weight Watchers Flex Plan (that leaves me lots of room for treats)

Emphasis is on:

Supplements

I split my supplements into 4 groups, AM, Lunch, PM, and bedtime.  That gives me 28 groups of pills.  The habit of the week is to remember my supplements 25/28 times.

Not much going on - I started chiropractic and massage.  And "body cleanse" - it's either the best thing since sliced bread or a complete hoax.    I lean toward hoax, but it feels good.

You put your feel in a bath with a little machine that supposedly charged the water with ions that magically draws toxins out of your body through your feet.  Those who believe it's a hoax say that the water changes because the ions oxidizes the water.  Here is a photo of my water after half an hour.Doesn't thatlook very nasty for being a hoax?

But here's a question...if it's the machine ionizing water, and they always use distilled water, why do different people's water turn different colors with different "floaters"?

Here's a list of colors and supposed toxins

  • Yellow-green: detoxifying from kidney, bladder, urinary tract, female/prostate area
  • Orange: detoxifying from joints
  • Brown: detoxifying from liver, tobacco, cellular debris
  • Black: detoxifying from liver
  • Dark green: detoxifying from gall bladder
  • White foam: detoxifying from Lymphatic system
  • White cheese-like particles: Most likely yeast
  • Black flecks: Heavy metals
  • Red flecks: Blood clot material

And the massage is wonderful.  Seriously, a lot of folks don't like chiropractic, but for years I've had a very sore spot in my neck and upper shoulders.  It's nearly gone.

the first day of "the Seven Pillars of Health" (and several after) are about water and getting enough of good water.

  • your body is about 70% water
  • your muscles are about 80% water
  • your brain is about 85% water.

If you don't get enough water, your body suffers.  And...you lose about 2 quarts of water every day just by living.

Short story...get enough water.  Take your weight, divide by two and drink that many ounces.  yes.  that many.

I started October 2 pounds lighter than I started September.

My first bike ride was August 17 and 10 miles was a hard ride.

Since then

  • 45-50 miles is an average weekend ride
  • My longest ride was 65 miles
  • I rode 344.99 miles in the month of September.
  • I burned 12,485 calories riding my bike

After being sick for a week, I rode today (22 miles) and it was the worst average speed in a while.  I have a lot of work to do in two weeks (I'm still planning a ride to Big Rapids and back).

It is said:  "There are two kinds of cyclists.  Those who have fallen and those who have not fallen...yet."

Today I joined the ranks of those who have fallen.  My elbow is messed up and I just noticed the bruise and scrape on my shoulder.  There is also a scrape and bruise on my knee (all on the left side).

My bike:  the handlebars are twisted a little bit.  In the fall the chain came off and that's the bright side!

I am getting more mechanically independent.  I put the thing back on by myself.

I am very glad that nobody was around to see me.  Especially the part where I got my shoe lace wrapped around the brake lever and was laying face down on the bridge, not able to get loose from my bike...

Miles logged...37.

I rode 50 miles (plus a few feet) yesterday and 21.1 today.

This morning I didn't feel sore at all, but after the 21 miles my legs are a little weak...but it's my upper arms that are like rubber.

I have serious bike lust.

This is a very feminine bike...flowers and all.  Women's "geometry"- shorter crank arms, different saddle, greater "seat to peddle"vs. "seat to handlebar" ratio.  Road tires, beautiful bike...and it could be in my future.

How so?  It's a reward.  What do I have to do?  Ride from my house to Big Rapids, MI (+/- 54 miles) and back as far as Riverside Park (so I don't have to climb the rather large hill at the end of a 100 mile+ ride.)

My goal?  On or before the first weekend of November.
